What Smart Connections Actually Does
Smart Connections is our new AI-powered feature that scans attendee profiles, publicly available online professional information, and event data to generate intelligent match recommendations.
How It Works:
Before the Event:
- Attendees sign into WITR and complete their profile (what they do, what they need, what they offer)
- Smart Connections analyses everyone at the event
- Each attendee sees their top matches, ranked by relevance
- For every match, the AI provides three specific reasons why they should connect
The Intelligence: Online info the AI looks at:
- Professional backgrounds and expertise
- Current needs and goals (asks and offers)
- Industry experience and interests
- Potential for bidirectional value
The Output: Attendees see:
- Who to connect with (name, role, company)
- Match quality (“Strong match”, “Mutual”, “Good match”)
- Three AI-generated reasons explaining the mutual value
- Conversation starters based on actual compatibility
- Full context from the person’s profile and research

On Privacy:
Smart Connections only uses information attendees choose to share and public professional profiles. We don’t train models on private data, it’s all deleted 48 hrs after the event closes. We don’t sell information. We’re transparent about what the AI sees and how it makes matches.
