The problem before WITR
Regular attendees knew each other well. New attendees left without meeting anyone useful. Follow-up depended on whoever remembered to swap cards.
How WITR was used
The organiser displayed the WITR QR code on the welcome slide, the registration desk and the coffee area. Pre-event emails included the registration link so early opt-ins created social proof. During the event, the host prompted attendees to check Smart Connections before the break.
What attendees could do
- Scan and opt in in under 20 seconds
- See who else was in the room, filtered by intent
- Get a small shortlist of relevant people
- Open with a warm starter instead of walking up cold
What organisers gained
- Higher attendee satisfaction from newcomers
- Impact Analytics showing what attendees were looking for
- Themes to shape the next event's audience mix
- Less admin around attendee introductions
