Low-friction networking

Event Networking Without an App Download

Use a browser-based tool that attendees open from a QR code or a link. Nothing to find in an app store, no account to create before they can see anything useful, and nothing left on their phone afterwards. The fewer steps between arriving and seeing who is in the room, the more people take part.

Why don't attendees use conference apps?

Every extra step loses people. Find the app, download it, wait on patchy venue Wi-Fi, create an account, remember a password. Plenty of attendees decide the event is only a day long and skip it, especially if they attend lots of events and already have a phone full of apps they used once. We have not published an adoption statistic here because we do not want to invent one. The principle is simple: remove steps and you remove reasons to give up.

What does browser-based networking look like in practice?

    1. 1The organiser creates the event and gets one QR code and one registration link.
    2. 2The code goes on the opening slide, screens, signage or badges. The link goes in pre-event emails.
    3. 3Attendees scan, opt in and appear on the live attendee list within seconds, in their browser.
    4. 4They add an Ask and an Offer so others know why they are there.
    5. 5On Pro events, AI Smart Connections suggests who to meet, with a conversation starter.

    What is browser-based event networking?

WITR runs in the attendee's phone browser rather than as a native event app. The flow is: scan the QR code, open WITR, join the event, see who is in the room, find relevant people, start conversations. There is no app-store step, attendees can join at any point during the event, and there are fewer barriers to taking part. It is one part of WITR's wider event networking software.

    Is it opt in?

Yes. Only attendees who choose to join appear on the list, and attendees without LinkedIn can register with a name and photo. That matters for trust as well as compliance: people are more comfortable taking part when they know it was their choice. Personal data is deleted 48 hours after the event, counted Monday to Friday only, leaving anonymised analytics.

What is the lowest-friction way to introduce networking technology?

    • Mention it from the stage in the first ten minutes
    • Keep the QR code visible during every break
    • Send the link before the event so early arrivals can look around
    • Explain the benefit in one line: see who is here and who to meet

    Frequently asked questions

Is there an event networking platform with no app download?

Can event networking work without an app?

    Do attendees pay anything?

No. WITR is free for attendees. The organiser pays per event.

Does it work if attendees do not use LinkedIn?

Yes. They can register manually with a name and photo.

What happens to attendee data afterwards?

Personal data is deleted 48 hours after the event, counted Monday to Friday only, leaving anonymised analytics.
